The NEXUS partnership of DTE Midstream and Enbridge recently closed the acquisition of Generation Pipeline – a 24-inch, 23-mile natural gas pipeline, fully contracted at 355 million cubic feet per day. Generation Pipeline originates at the Maumee Hub in Lucas County, Ohio and extends east towards the Port of Toledo, Ohio. The pipe serves long term customers who will have access to big new gas supply sources, including significant volumes from rapidly growing Ohio gas production. Over time, these customers will benefit from a NEXUS-Generation interconnection.
“Our ability to create economic growth depends on having access to clean, reliable natural gas,” says Gary Thompson, EVP of the Regional Growth Partnership serving Toledo and the Northwest Ohio region. “The new Nexus Pipeline and it’s Generation Pipeline addition are key to this successful expansion where industrial giants such as Cleveland Cliffs, Oregon Clean Energy, NSG Group and Interstate Chemical, all big natural gas consumers, are investing hundreds of millions of dollars for new production facilities in Northwest Ohio. We happen to have this rich resource in our state, and we want to use it for the good of our state.”
“The decision to purchase Generation Pipeline is consistent with our growth plans for NEXUS and aligns with our commitment to enable large industrial customers in the region to access clean, low-cost natural gas”, said David Slater, President and COO of DTE Midstream.
We are excited to officially add Generation Pipeline to our asset portfolio. To learn more about shipping gas on NEXUS, please contact Vice President, Marketing for NEXUS, Bill Gratopp.
