A BRIGHTER ENERGY FUTURE
At DTE, our aspiration is to be the best-operated energy company in North America, and a force for growth and prosperity in the communities where we live and serve. To learn how DTE Energy is leading the way to a smarter, safer and cleaner energy future, see the latest Corporate Citizenship Report.
A FORCE FOR GOOD–GIVING BACK
We are focused on making a difference in our communities in keeping with our core values. At DTE Midstream, we are committed to being a “force for good” with positive outcomes for the communities in which we live and serve. We show this through our volunteerism – the DTE Care Force, which has become a key part of our culture. During 2018, DTE Energy achieved world-class volunteering status when more than 50 percent of the workforce volunteered their time. A total of 5,100 employees volunteered 88,000 hours to more than 800 community nonprofits. Through our DTE Energy Foundation, we provide financial support to hundreds of nonprofit organizations across the communities we serve. Our volunteer and financial support are focused in three categories:
1. Food and Shelter
DTE Midstream is proud to partner with the Mountaineer Food Bank of West Virginia. The Mountaineer Food Bank serves several communities throughout West Virginia and is the largest food bank in the Appalachia region.
The DTE Foundation provided a $25,000 grant to the food bank to focus on child hunger. The money was used to stock pantries located inside elementary schools throughout West Virginia. The program has been such a success that the Foundation is considering pledging additional resources to the child hunger initiative. “It’s important to give to the communities in which we work and live, because for us to thrive, the communities have to thrive as well”, Dick Redmond, President of Gathering & Processing, DTE Midstream.
2. Youth Development
Our NEXUS pipeline project made a $12,500 donation to Lincoln High School (Washtenaw County, MI) and was the title sponsor of the district robotics competition held March 15-17, 2018. Forty teams participated in the event, and several of those teams will be participating in the FIRST Robotics World Championship event in Detroit, April 25-28, 2018. Read more.
